Canadian soprano Julie Ekker is a vibrant young artists based in Montréal. She completed her Master's degree in voice performance at the University of Toronto in 2016. In 2020, she is the recipient of the Kanata Symphony Orchestra’s Classical Singing Competition. She has also been selected for the Semi-Finals of the Prix d’Europe 2020 and will be competing in the summer 2021.

Recently, Julie performed the title role in the South Ottawa Performing Arts Collaborative’s production of Cendrillon, as well as the role of Lucy England in their production of The Telephone. She sang the role of Servilia in La Compagnie Baroque Mont-Royal’s production of  La clemenza di Tito as well as the role of Carolina in their production of Il matrimonio segreto. In 2017, Julie performed at the Opera on the Avalon Summer Festival the role of Dortchen Wild from Dean Burry’s The Brothers Grimm as well as the role of Sister Catherine from Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking.  She also performed the role of Zenobia in the Accademia Europea dell’Opera’s production of Radamisto in Lucca, Italy. She also performed the role of Naiad in the Summer Opera Lyric Theatre’s production of Ariadne auf Naxos. During her undergraduate years at the University of Ottawa, Julie played the role of Belinda in Dido and Aeneas as well as the role of Mrs. Gobineau in The Medium by Menotti.
